Regeneration reactor
Design of the pilot-scale regeneration unit
On the basis of the results of preliminary analysis, it was decided to carry out each stage of the regeneration process (washing pre-treatment, regeneration/carbonation reaction and second washing) followed by the liquid/solid separation step, in sequence in the same reactor. As for the mode of operation, the discontinuous mode was chosen since it is the easiest to implement and the least space-consuming one.
The selected scheme of the pilot-scale reactor is shown in the figure below.
The pilot-scale regeneration unit is composed by the following main elements:
• The filter tensioning system;
• The regeneration reactor;
• The vacuum filtration system.
