Action A5 – Environmental assessment

The aim of this action is to integrate three methodologies for evaluating the sustainability of the alternative methods for the capture of the CO2, based on environmental criteria. This action will quantitatively evaluate the different alternatives: the BABIU process and the chemical absorption optimizing reactants, products, and recyclable wastes, according to three different methodologies: life cycle assessment, material and energy flow analysis, and cumulative extended exergy analysis.
This action includes several phases:
a)    Inventory analysis

b)    Application of the 3 methodologies to the processes proposed and reference systems.

c)    Integrations of these results.

d)    Estimation of the CO2 avoided emissions per each process.

e)    Relevance to national scenarios (Italy, Spain and Austria).
