Action A3 – Pilot plants operation

This action is devoted to the operation of the two pilot plants designed and constructed in the Action A2.

The aim is the demonstration of the functioning of the pilot plants. Concerning the alkali absorption process with regeneration the following different operating conditions will be applied:

• different reactants in the absorbing solution: KOH; NaOH;
• different types of solid residues in the regeneration reactor (bottom ahs, fly ash, the slag produced during steel refinement, Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) slag or cement waste);
• operation with regenerated solutions using the different solid residues;
• the same group of operating conditions will be repeated considering a lean landfill gas, diluting the original landfill gas with nitrogen, through the alternative feeding system.
  

Concerning the BABIU process the following different operating conditions will be applied:

• different ratios landfill gas/bottom ash
• different contact time
• different hydration time for bottom ash
• the same group of operating conditions will be repeated considering a lean landfill gas, diluting the original landfill gas with nitrogen, through the alternative feeding system.
